Maintenance Technician, Night Shift (12 hours)

Summary

The Maintenance Technician II inspects and maintains the condition of all plastic injection machines, associated equipment, and infrastructure. Additional responsibilities include ensuring that all safety, equipment and facility specifications and standards are in technical compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follows safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Logs equipment usage, parts replacement, and scheduled maintenance to ensure maximum functionality.
• Diagnoses, analyzes, and repairs electro-mechanical and instrumentation equipment using meters, gauges, and other testing methods.
• Applies knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic devices and principles to install, repair, and/or replace defective equipment.
• Identifies root causes of downtime, poor production performance, non-conforming product, and scrap.
• Suggests changes to standard maintenance procedures by verifying applicability.
• Prepares work areas to ensure tools needed are available and in working order.
• Troubleshoots and resolves equipment problems while demonstrating proactive maintenance behaviors and best-practices.
• Performs required preventative maintenance job assignments and completes documentation in a timely manner.
• Communicates safety, quality, and production concerns to team leaders and supervisors.
• Performs daily preventative maintenance on production equipment.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment in accordance with the 5S principles.
• Identifies when equipment needs to be replaced and informs supervisor.
• Works with other team members to foster a collaborative work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities)
• Able to perform IML set-up and troubleshooting
• Basic knowledge of Heat Transfer Machine(s) set-up and troubleshooting
• Understanding of machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance
• Understanding of how electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic devices work
• Comprehensive understanding of Food safety, GMP, PRP, HACCP, awareness of food contact materials, as it relates to food safety packaging (in applicable facilities)
• Able to MIG/Stick/TIG weld.

Education

• High school diploma or G.E.D. (required)

Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience related to Industrial Maintenance (required)
• Less than 1 year of experience related to plastics set-up (preferred)

OTHER

Physical Job Requirements
• Able to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently.
• Able to assist lifting more than 50 pounds occasionally.
• Able to perform work while bending, stooping, stretching, and climbing ladders.
• All work is performed in a manufacturing environment which may be hot/cold and requires the use of PPE at all times (safety glasses, hearing protection where necessary, etc.)

• Forklift Certified (in-house training provided)
