Process Technician 1st Shift

Summary

The Process Technician is responsible for performing die, color, and material changeovers. Process Technicians start up and maintain injection molding machines as well as adjust cycle times to meet production standards. Additional responsibilities include adjusting the injection molding process as needed to meet company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follows safety policies and LOTO procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Sets up and adjusts injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and tooling for production runs.
  • Monitors and optimizes molding processes to ensure consistent part quality and cycle efficiency.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves molding defects, process deviations, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Performs mold and material changeovers, ensuring proper setup and documentation.
  • Maintains detailed records of process parameters, adjustments, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Uses forklift and/or overhead crane to pull, change, or set molds.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment in accordance with the 5S principles.
  • Collaborates with engineering team to develop samples of new molds and materials.
  • Performs machine testing and process validation.
  • Uses knowledge of processing different grades of plastic to make quality parts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities)

  • Proficient in mechanical understanding and knowledge.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Food safety, GMP, PRP, HACCP, awareness of food contact materials, as it relates to food safety packaging (in applicable facilities)
  • Basic understanding of decoupled molding (preferred)

 

Education

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. (required)

 

 Experience

  • Required years of experience may vary based on qualifications, skills, and level within the role.

OTHER

Physical Requirements

  • All work is performed in a manufacturing environment which may be hot/cold and requires the use of PPE at all times (eyeglasses, ear plugs where required, etc.)
  • Able to lift and handle a minimum of 45-55 pounds.
  • Able to perform work in a standing or sitting position as required.
  • Able to work in tight or confined spaces.

 

Licenses & Certifications

  • Forklift Certified (required; in-house training provided)
  • RJG training or certification (preferred)
