Operations Controller

Summary

Reporting to the CFO, the Operations Controller develops and implements strategic operational financial objectives to optimize profitability, improve efficiency, and support long-term growth. Establishes the finance operations team as a value-added and analytical business partner to operations’ senior leadership team as important strategic and operational decisions are made.  Monitors plant operation results against operating plans and directs the preparation of financial, production output, and other reports used to measure and control plant activities and costs. Leads the plant financial and capital budgeting process. Recommends and implements programs to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs. Ensures the plant’s financial control processes and systems comply with company policies, applicable regulations, and provide required information.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Financial Strategy: Develop and implement strategic operational financial initiatives to optimize profitability, improve efficiency, and support long-term growth. Establish the finance operations team as a value-added and analytical business partner to operations’ senior leadership team as important strategic and operational decisions are made.
  • Financial Reporting: Collaborate with Corporate Controller in preparation and presentation of accurate and timely plant financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and other month-end reporting ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Actively lead the development of operational financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to support business objectives. Analyze financial performance and provide insights to drive decision-making.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and control manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses. Implement cost reduction strategies while maintaining quality standards.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure financial performance and track progress towards strategic goals.
  • Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing operations finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • ERP Systems Integration: Be actively engaged and champion in implementing a new ERP solution to achieve increased productivity, reduce operational costs, improved financial planning and analysis, forecasting and enhanced data security.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • In-depth knowledge of cost accounting and operations finance to identify cost drivers, manage costs, increase effectiveness and efficiencies to drive results and grow the business.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate throughout all levels of the Company.

  • Excellent working knowledge of Intermediate to Advanced level Microsoft
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of US

 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • MBA or CPA preferred.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years Cost Accounting experience in a high volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment, including preparation of financial statements required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management experience with cost accounting or operational finance teams.
  • Experience with ERP systems and implementations.
