Pouch Machine Operator

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The pouch operator is responsible for operating and maintaining pouch packaging equipment to ensure efficient and accurate packaging of products. This role involves setting up, adjusting, and monitoring pouch packaging machines, as well as troubleshooting issues that may arise during production. The pouch operator must adhere to safety protocols, quality standards, and production schedules to meet customer requirements.

 

  • Operate machine, adjusting as required to maintain quality and production requirements.
  • Work from work orders, samples specifications book, written and verbal instructions. Use small hand tools, such as rubber hammer, wrenches, screwdriver, and pliers, measuring and weigh scale.
  • Obtain work instructions and properly select and load in-process work in prescribed manner.
  • Adjust in accordance with established procedures for machine operation.
  • Check, set controls, and reset as required for proper speed, feed, tension, or other related machine operation. Remove completed work, apply side plates to core, identify weigh, and properly store.
  • Consistently monitor quality of product to maintain quality standards.
  • Pull product samples during production to ensure quality of production. Maintain production log to track detail of daily production.
  • Record time or production information required on proper form. Detect and report defective material, unusual conditions, or faulty equipment to proper supervision. Maintain work, storage area, machine, and related equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Observe all prescribed or standard safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain workplace housekeeping to provide a safe, clean work environment.
  • Perform other similar or related duties as assigned or directed.
  • Maintenance and Cleaning: Perform routine maintenance tasks on pouch packaging machines, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to maintenance personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities)

  • Strong mechanical and math skills
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to accurately measure dimensions, quantities, or qualities.
  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • 1- 3 years of experience in manufacturing or production, preferably in a packaging environment required.
  • Experience with pouch packaging equipment and machinery required.

OTHER

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating machinery and performing tasks.
  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including temperature fluctuations and noise levels.
