Shift Lead- Third Shift

Summary

Must be a results oriented hands-on leader with a passion for implementing and sustaining improvements, the ability to think strategically, solve problems, lead members, and drive quality in their facilities.

Shift / Leads are integral members of the M & M Industries Inc. team and responsible for implementing and sustaining change, controlling inventory and material flow, ensuring to meet the needs of customers, and driving to bottom line results.

Day to day, this individual is responsible for communicating expectations, motivating team members, teaching new processes, mentoring members, sharing experiences of best practices, empowering members to recognize and make improvements, and leading department initiatives. Also oversees and support the injection molding process as needed to maintain acceptable quality to M&M standards. Knowledge of auxiliary equipment such as Beck robotic automation, Martin Automation, and Kase Heat Transfer Application is a plus.

Essential Functions:

  • Follows safety policies and LOTO procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Must be able to coach / lead / mentor team members to create an environment that strives to meet goals in Safety, Quality, productivity.
  • Oversees schedule and material changes efficiently following the “Work order changeover process.”
  • Monitor machine output for non-conformance, and resolution of defect(s) engaging with cross-functional team members.
  • Keeps work areas clean and organized following 5S methodology.
  • Conducts pre-shift production meeting.
  • Provides hands on support for production team members (floaters, operators, Material Handlers, Processors)
  • Provides shift supervisor with timely and accurate information on safety issues, quality concerns, and production bottlenecks, while assisting supervisor with resolution.
  • Audit adherence to production standards and SOP’s and escalate non-conformance to shift supervisor.
  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn Shotscope, ASC, as well as or other production monitoring software.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and handle a minimum of 45-55 pounds occasionally.
  • Good hand and eye coordination a must
  • Good mechanical aptitude is a plus.
  • Perform work from a standing and/or sitting position as required.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with moderate amount of noise.
  • All work is performed in a manufacturing environment which may be hot/cold and requires the use of PPE at all times (eyeglasses, ear plugs where required, etc.)
  • Prior experience working on molding machines such as Husky, BMB, Van Dorn, Engel and/or Milacron are a plus.
  • Basic computer skill knowledge
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to learn Lean Manufacturing and have objectivity to improve processes.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
